Making a TTY Call
Turn on the TTY. The switch is usually on the side or back.
Put the telephone receiver in the acoustic cups on the TTY. Usually the cord or voice side of the receiver goes on the left coupler. There is often an illustration on the TTY to indicate the placement of the receiver.
- Make sure the receiver is securely positioned in the acoustic cups. They sometimes slip out of the cups and interrupt the signal transmission.
Watch the signal light in the display screen. A steady light indicates a dial tone. Busy signals are represented by blinking lights. Flickering lights indicate that someone is answering with voice instead of a TTY.
