Individuals with limited speech, but who are able to hear, can utilize a process known as hearing carry-over (HC0) to communicate over the telephone. The individual must inform the Relay Operator that they will be utilizing hearing carry-over during the call. The relay operator then types the callers message to the other party. When the other party responds verbally, the speech limited person hears the response and replays by typing the answer. Both parties in this process must indicate that they are finished with their response by saying or typing “Go Ahead” or “GA” after their turn.
